Accessibility at Ham Hill

Information about paths, wheelchair‑friendly routes, accessible toilets and Changing Places facilities

Getting around Ham Hill

The paths at Ham Hill are made from natural materials like stone, grass and bark chippings. Because of this, they can get muddy when the weather is wet. Some paths are also quite steep, as Ham Hill is a hilly place.

Large areas around the Northern Spur and the Flat Fields are suitable for mobility scooters. There is also an all‑ability trail around the Northern Spur that is wheelchair friendly. The route is about 0.9 kilometres long and has some gentle slopes.

There is a Tramper Trail across much of the hillfort. A Tramper is an off‑road mobility scooter that you can hire from the Ham Hill Visitor Centre. To use one, you can register with Countryside Mobility before your visit or sign up on the day at the Visitor Centre.

Accessible routes

There are marked bridleways across the site that can be used by both horse riders and cyclists. You can find maps of these routes on the Somerset Council website under Explore Somerset – Rights of Way, Open Spaces and Area Management.

Accessible toilets

If you have additional needs, there is a disabled toilet at the Rangers Office. What3Words: ///magnetic.elevator.harmlessly
