Visit Ham Hill for beautiful views, wildlife, easy walks and one of the UK’s largest Iron Age hillforts.
Introduction
Ham Hill is a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors. It’s great for walking, running, dog walks, playing and spotting wildlife, with amazing views across Somerset. There is also an easy‑to‑use accessible path where everyone can enjoy the scenery.
Ham Hill has been shaped over millions of years and offers wide views across the South Somerset Levels, the Mendips and Exmoor. It is home to one of the largest Iron Age hillforts in the United Kingdom and is an important historic site. Today, you can enjoy wildflower meadows, lots of wildlife, interesting rocks and the remains of ancient ramparts.
Made from local hamstone, Ham Hill is easy to spot from the A303. With plenty of space to explore, there is something here for everyone.
The Visitor Centre is the main starting point for your visit. Inside, you can learn about the history and wildlife of Ham Hill, enjoy food and drink at the Lime Kiln Café, use the toilets and changing place, browse local art and crafts, and pick up gifts and local produce.
